April 13 to May 20, 2017
At Atelier Circulaire Gallery (#105)
Opening reception: Thursday April 13th at 5:30 pm

L'Atelier Circulaire presents Flower Blossom by multidisciplinary artist Cynthia Dinan-Mitchell. With this exhibition, the Atelier Circulaire Gallery proposes an immersion into a colorful and abundant universe where fauna, flora and references to the domestic realm are superimposed in a combination of heteroclite and harmonious collages. Do not miss the opening with the artist on April 13th starting at 5:30 pm. The exhibition will continue until May 20th.

“Dinan-Mitchell brings poetry to daily life where disenchantment is often present, offering a break in the constant flow of images of catastrophe and corruption ever-present in contemporary society. Her artworks are beautiful but never superficial, critical without being cynical. One easily recognizes the style of the artist, both feminine and fundamentally baroque.

Cynthia Dinan-Mitchell was first known as an artist for her creation of vast sceneries where scenography and installation intersect, where the domestic world invades the art world. […] The artist conceives immersive works that can be perceived as scenery, autonomous exhibition space and art installation. In doing so, she creates intimate and comfortable atmospheres that, although seemingly innocuous, are always a little offbeat: things are never quite what they seem to be.”

- Anne-Sophie Blanchet, art historian (transl.)

Cynthia Dinan-Mitchell deploys her work through drawing, installation, printmaking and sculpture. She creates complex and polysemous graphic compositions where she blurs the boundaries between nature and culture, private and public, visual and decorative arts. Dinan-Mitchell is a graduate of Concordia University (2002) and obtained a Master's degree in Visual Arts from Université Laval (2007). She has exhibited her work in numerous galleries in Quebec and Canada. Cynthia lives and works in Quebec.
